Tis the Season
The holiday season is a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration. At the Woodson Art Museum it’s no different as staff recently gathered to celebrate a year filled with hard work, collaboration, and dedication. To properly acknowledge the efforts of all, and to start the New Year on a high note, we participated in activities centered around self-care at our annual holiday party.
After eating some very comforting food, we took part in a white elephant gift exchange, where the theme was “ReReRe: Recharge, Redeem, Reconnect.” Gifts varied from books and puzzles to tea and coffee blends, and of course, art supplies. There were many “ooh’s” and “aah’s” as each gift was unwrapped, and several gifts were stolen throughout the exchange. The stars of the show were an Art Gallery board game, a goose-shaped planter, and an actual white elephant teapot.
We ended the party with a DIY project – make your own “bath tea.” The station was set up with small cloth bags, different jars filled with dried flowers and herbs, and Epsom salts. After creating our perfect blend, we were able to name our tea! I am looking forward to creating my own spa at home with the bath tea and the essential oil shower steamers I received as part of my gift.
While the Museum staff is a small, close-knit bunch, it is not often that we all get to sit down together and enjoy casual conversation, so these gatherings are always special. We left the party feeling more connected, with newfound self-care rituals, and ready to take on the new year!
