Ready, Set, GLASS BOX!

Birds in Art opening weekend is one of the best times of year to visit the Woodson Art Museum. Artists from all around the world travel to Wausau to share in camaraderie, interact with the public, and celebrate the exhibition. Not only does Birds in Art make this time so exciting for the city of Wausau, but the three other venues that contribute to Wausau’s Artrageous Weekend—the Center for Visual Arts, Wausau Festival of the Arts, and Art in the Park—also help pack these two days with a creative punch. This year we are excited to offer even more opportunities for the public to enjoy a weekend full of festivities through hands-on art making sessions led by staff and artists at the Glass Box Studio.

With so much beautiful artwork on display in the galleries and across town, the Museum is presenting a special opportunity for patrons to be inspired in their own creative endeavors. On Saturday, September 7, we are offering multiple free hands-on projects, making sure that everyone has the chance to take a priceless work of art home with them. From 1 – 4 pm, the Glass Box Studio will be hosting staff-led screen printing, artist-led mixed media collage, and self-led watercolor projects for all skill levels to enjoy.

As the Museum continues to find new ways to activate the Glass Box Studio space and ensure the public knows that it’s here for their enjoyment, we are thrilled to offer more opportunities for free public interaction on opening day of Birds in Art. We hope to use the creativity that the exhibition and Wausau’s Artrageous Weekend fosters to attract visitors and community members to our new art-making space. This weekend helps grow the arts in our area, and our goal is to make the Glass Box Studio a destination itself, helping to continue our community’s attraction of creative minds from outside and within. We hope to see you there!
