Volunteer

Support the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum by sharing your time and talents. Volunteers assist staff and visitors in a variety of roles and levels of commitment. Here are some of the ways to get involved:

Docents

Docents are trained gallery interpreters who offer guided tours for visiting schools and adult groups. Initial training includes a 6-week course and shadowing experiences. The docent corps participates in trainings with curatorial and education staff for each new exhibition.

Greeters

Greeters welcome visitors at the main entrance and offer information about exhibitions on view. Initial training is one-on-one with a staff member. The greeter corps enjoys an educator-led tour for each new exhibition.

SPARK! Friends

SPARK! is a creative engagement program for individuals with early- to mid-stage memory loss and their care partners. SPARK! friends serve as program companions during in-gallery experiences and art making in the classroom. Initial training includes one-on-one sessions with a staff member and shadowing experiences.
