John Sloan’s New York

There is a strange magic to American artist John Sloan’s (1871–1951) painting Cornelia Street. The artwork, recently acquired by the Woodson Art Museum, captures a quintessential New York view, a culmination of the cycle of "city pictures" he had pursued since moving to New York in 1904.
Art is for Everyone

It’s easy for some people to perceive art communities as insular and privileged. In some fine art circles, an artist’s work has enormous value, while a designer’s work receives little recognition. It’s energizing to see the opposite is true at the Woodson Art Museum, where the lines between artist, designer, and maker always seem to be blurred.

Jurying nearly 1,200 artworks is not an easy task; it is even harder choosing the 89 artworks that will be exhibited this September, but the jurors lent their expertise in selecting wonderful contemporary artworks displaying the best of avian art.
