The Charm City

As Bryce, Holly, and I settle back into our offices and catch up on what we missed while we are gone, we will remember the days we spent in “The Charm City” with fondness.

Lifelong Learners

In the past 30 years, I myself have endured and enjoyed many of my own personal docent trainings. My mother always helped my younger sister and I understand the importance of hearing history form others and making note of it. As fellow educator Rachel Hausmann-Schall and I took on the summer docent training, I took time to hear stories of docent classes past from some of our most tenured participants.

A Perfect Pairing

The Museum recently invited the Wausau Lyric choir to perform at our members opening event for "Women Reframe American Landscape." Being able to bring people together to shine light on female artists of all types – both in the community and beyond – made the night extra special for Museum staff and choir members alike.

Nama-Stay for the Art

On the first Thursday of each month, the Museum offers extended hours for visitors to get the chance to explore the galleries and grounds. First Thursdays in the summer are even more special because they include Sculpture Garden Yoga, a beginner-friendly class taught by instructors from 5 Koshas Yoga and Wellness. I began participating in these classes last summer. Who doesn’t like a little after-work zen?

First Impressions

April 15, 1874. In the recently vacated gallery space of the French photographer Nadar at 35 Boulevard des Capucines 30 artists hung 165 artworks on the gallery’s walls. This new exhibition, organized by the Société Anonyme Coopérative des Artists Peintres, Sculpteurs, Graveurs — or Cooperative and Anonymous Association of Painters, Sculptors, and Engravers, was the first Impressionist exhibition. The effects of April 15, 1874 — now nearing its 150th anniversary — can be felt here in Wausau, April 10, 2024.

Museum Madness

Posted on March 27, 2024
This week, we brought the magic of “March Madness” to the Museum as the staff picked a favorite artwork from the Museum’s collection to go head-to-head in an outrageously heated vote for superiority. After the matchups were set, I could feel the familiar spike in anticipation for the first round ramp up.
