Gunnar Tryggmo Named 2024 Woodson Art Museum Master Wildlife Artist

The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum announced Swedish artist Gunnar Tryggmo as its 2024 Master Wildlife Artist. He will be honored during the 49th annual Birds in Art exhibition this fall. Tryggmo, the 41st Master Artist, will receive the Master Wildlife Artist Medal during Birds in Art Opening Weekend, September 7 and 8.

We enjoy the holiday season in my parents’ historic log cabin and one of my favorite memories as a child has now become a tradition in my family: keeping warm by the fireplace.

My goodness. My wife and I have been to many art museums - from the Louvre in Paris to the Milwaukee Art Museum - and, pound for pound, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is absolutely wonderful. Our very first visit to this gem a couple of days ago brought a smile to me at every turn, from the beautifully-maintained outdoor garden and unique sculptures to the interesting exhibits inside a professionally-presented viewing space that covers three floors. Congratulations, Wausau, you have a winner!

A treat right in the middle of Wausau. A variety of different art mediums and well laid out. Bronze sculpture garden is lovely also. Enjoyed our afternoon here.
